A 20+ year veteran of the telecommunications industry, Tom Zalewski has deep experience in the mobile device arena across numerous industries. Tom has helped pioneer various wireless solutions and services, including telematics product offerings for the long-haul trucking industry, the first dual-mode CDMA mobile devices, and contactless payment solutions for the retail, hospitality and payment industries. He has led many of the first NFC & RFID mobile pilots, and has presented on mobile/digital payments & credential management topics at dozens of conferences and seminars. As a Subject Matter Expert, Tom been interviewed and quoted in numerous industry articles and various publications such as TIME Magazine.
Tom was most recently Chief Marketing Officer at SK C&C USA, the mobile device division of a global top-tier IT company. Prior to SK C&C USA, Tom was co-founder and President/General Manager of Venyon Inc, a Nokia-funded joint venture that introduced the first secure OTA credential management service for financial institutions, transportation sector, retail establishments, access control and related enterprise businesses utilizing mobile devices.
Prior to establishing Venyon Inc, Tom was in management and strategic roles with Nokia since joining in 1999. As Director of Business Development for the Americas region, Tom worked closely with Nokia technology leads to develop, position and sell end-to-end services and solutions to enterprise clients, retail, transportation, wireless service providers, and 3rd party service providers. Technologies included Machine-to-Machine/M2M (aka Internet-of-Things/IoT), Multimedia Services, Location Based Services/LBS, Field Workforce, Mobile/Asset Management solutions, Short Messaging Service/SMS, Mobile Marketing and Mobile Internet.
Before joining Nokia, Tom held management and operational roles with Samsung, Siemens, HighwayMaster and Qualcomm. Tom is a graduate of the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology. He has authored numerous patents, including the SmartCoverTM, a customizable mobile device faceplate with an embedded RFID transponder.
