
Aikon Consulting provides NFC and related technology implementation consulting to companies involved with, or planning to provide, NFC services and solutions. A 20 year veteran of the telecommunications industry, Tom Zalewski has 10 years experience in the mobile payments arena and has been involved in many of the first NFC and pre-NFC (RFID) mobile payments trials & pilots. During this time he has presented on mCommerce and mobile payments topics at dozens of conferences and seminars. As a Subject Matter Expert, Tom been interviewed and quoted in numerous industry articles and various publications such as TIME Magazine.
Tom was most recently President and General Manager of Venyon Inc, a joint venture established late 2006 between Nokia and Giesecke & Devrient. Venyon provides secure third party management services and aggregation support for wireless network operators, banks, public transportation authorities and retailers who implement various applications compatible with NFC consumer devices.
Prior to heading Venyon Inc, Tom was with Nokia in various business development roles since joining in 1999. His most recent position there was Director of NFC/RFID Consumer Solutions for the Americas region of Nokia Ventures. During his time with Nokia, Tom worked closely with technology heads to develop and sell bundled services and solutions to mobile network operators and third party service providers. Technologies included Short Messaging Service, Multimedia Services, Location Based Services, Machine-to-Machine (M2M) solutions, Mobile Gaming, Mobile Marketing and Mobile Internet.
Before joining Nokia, Tom worked in the wireless industry in various management and operational roles with Samsung, Siemens, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments. Tom is a graduate of the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology. His patent inventions include the SmartCoverTM, a customizable mobile phone faceplate with an embedded RFID transponder.
